Following World War II, Air Corps hero Joe Barrett (Humphrey Bogart) believes that his wife died in a concentration camp. He starts his own airline and returns to Japan years later, only to discover that she is alive, along with his daughter, and married to a lawyer. His efforts to reconcile, however, are thwarted by former Japanese Secret Service agent Baron Kimura, who has kidnaps Joe's daughter in a bid to force him to use his enterprise to smuggle war criminals back into Japan. But Joe can only do this for so long, before he decides to take matters into his own hands by defying Kimura's orders, and risking his life to save his child... |
