From the twisted mind of writer-director Kenneth J. Hall (PUPPET MASTER) comes the tongue-in-cheek, genre-bending exploitation film THE HALFWAY HOUSE. Larissa Morgan (Tracy Keijser) is investigating the disappearance of her sister from a house for troubled girls, and goes undercover to learn more. But what she discovers is that the halfway house is more like a house of horrors, populated by a priest with a taste for corporal punishment, a nun who worships something other than the Christian God, a murderous janitor, and a group of lipstick lesbians. None of that, however, is preparation for her discovery of what lurks in the basement. THE HALFWAY HOUSE satirizes everything from women in prison films to slasher films, finding time to include plenty of gore and nudity along the way. |
