Sharp's VL-H890U has one of the most unique designs ever seen in a consumer camcorder. Instead of the palmcorder approach, where your hand grips either the camera's body or a separate handle, Sharp uses the approach most of us have use when shooting still photography. The camera and LCD display are extremely flexible, letting you swivel the camera or the LCD independently of each other a full 270 degrees. Because you can swivel the fairly large 3-1/2-inch LCD to the front of the camera, you can easily put yourself (and see yourself) in the shot without having someone operate the camera. And the VL-H890U does have one of the biggest LCDs you can get on a camcorder.
