Jesus And Mary Chain: William Reid, Jim Reid (vocals, guitar); Monti (drums). All songs written by William Reid and Jim Reid. Completed just in time for the Jesus & Mary Chain to join the 1992 Lollapalooza festival, HONEY'S DEAD features the Scottish rock group's signature distortion-heavy sound, bolstered this time around by a more dance-friendly vibe and a return to the use of live drums. Highlights of this often-underrated disc include the snarling "Reverence" (replete with controversial lyrics), the supremely catchy "Far Gone and Out," and the blissed-out "Almost Gold." One the Mary Chain's better '90s offerings, HONEY'S DEAD is arguably the band's most immediately enjoyable album. |
