The PowerForce Dual G4 Series 100 processor card (and its cousin, the single processor version) is the most advanced, highest performance CPU card available for any PowerMac, and the only one of its kind for the PowerMac G4. The PowerForce Dual G4 Series 100 has many "firsts" to its credit. Of course, the obvious one is that it is the first aftermarket dual processor upgrade to utilize the Apollo (7455) processor. Its also first and only dual processor card for PowerMac G4 Cube. The PowerForce Dual G4 was designed along with the single processor version. In fact, they share the same circuit board. This kept design costs to a minimum. In addition, we kept cost low in other ways; for example, L3 cache. The goal was to deliver performance on par with the latest Macs at the lowest cost, which is why we didnt blindly follow Apple with regards to L3 cache. The cards have SDR cache instead of the more expensive (but quite unnecessary) DDR cache. This meant the incremental cost could be devoted to a second processor |
