Back in the early days of computer gaming, the hottest things going were adventure games. They were prized for their ability to take the gamer into to other worlds, other surroundings that would necessitate the player getting into the mind of the main character in order to solve puzzles and save the Princess, or what not. The time of the old adventure game has passed, with Myst and Riven carrying the flickering torch of a dying genre, with their names becoming synonymous with gaming for non-computer users, and their names becoming anathema to the hardcore gamer. As of late, the genre has been given a shot in the arm with games like Resident Evil, Dino Crisis, Metal Gear Solid, and Parasite Eve. These games have revitalized the flagging genre by adding an element crucial for holding today?s gamer?s attention, and that is action. The action/adventure genre is bigger than ever, and a new title in the market, T.R.A.G. (Tactical Recon Assault Group) is trying to carve itself a place in this rising genre. |
