Details: Dummy Terminals are a bit of a relec from the stone age (the 1980s & early 1990s) when machines like IBM System 36, AS/400 and Vax did all the computing in corporate America. There were no PCs or true networks so Dummy Terminals were like monitor and keyboards with really long cables so that many people could access the single computer system. They have no CPU so they are in effect dumb. The only people who need them today are people who need to access a legacy system. However, today it is much more common for users who need to attach to these older mainframes to run a dummy terminal emulation software program on their PC through the network. Now you know!
