Details: In 320 AD Costantino commissioned the Basilica of St. Peter, a huge building made of aisles and naves, preceded by an atrium in the place where, according to the tradition, St. Peter was found. During the 15th century several artists helped complete a restoration of Costantino's basilica, an effort that ended about 200 hundred years later. In 1547, a 70-year old Michelangelo undertook the completion of a previous architect's design, projected it upwards with the magnificent Dome, which was completed by Giacomo Dalla Porta at the end of 15th century.
