Details: With town names like Boerne, New Braunfels and Comfort, Texas Hill Country promises interesting stories. In 1845, Prince Carl of Braunfels purchased $1,111 worth of Hill Country land from Maria Antonia Garza to establish the first German settlement in Texas. In the same year, local Tonkawa women cooked and ate a Waco warrior in the hopes that their offspring would someday exhibit the consumed enemy's fierceness. Today, historic sites like Boerne's Kronkosky Tower preside over this rich land and its history.
