Pros: clean, modern, not too crowded Cons: premium price, ($140 to join, $75 per month, subject to specials) but worth it
Sport & Health Club (Ballston branch)
A few months ago, I decided that, really and truly, it was time for me to get in a shape other than "round." The picture in my profile (the "Before" picture) shows exactly what I...
Pros: Fast results, great value! Cons: A bit hard to get in the habit of using
There's a lot of hype about nutritional supplements and what they can and can't do for you, now here's the truth! Many people think that working out with free weights and eating healthfully are the only thing one needs to get in shape, but the most...
Pros: Makes you strong Cons: effects some more than others
I used the powder form of creatine this past summer. I was suprised at the results that I recieved. I gained about 12 pounds over the course of 3 months and was bigger. I used to be very week, but since I started to take creatine I improved my...
Pros: good equipment, good hours, awesome classes Cons: crowded, meets but does not exceed standards
Gold's Gym in Oakland is great for what it is- a smaller, inexpensive neighborhood gym. It's conveniently located on Grand Avenue (at MacArthur) in view of Lake Merritt. It's got all the essentials, and several perks:
Pros: lots of high quality equipment, Cons: overhead music made to motivate teenage male metal-heads
I think the owner of my local Gold's Gym (aka the McCall Fitness Group) thinks he is being "ironic" since there is so much "Heavy metal" at Gold's (mostly its iron, there is no gold here) while blasting only "heavy metal"...
Pros: Significant increases in every weight lifting max Cons: your diet will need adjusting if you don't eat alot of protein already
This summer I was extremely interested in making myself better and giving myself a better chance in basketball for the 99-00 season. I had been lifting weights ever since I was in high school but I could never gain too much weight or make significant...
Pros: Incredible energy boost--SYNTHETIC RAGE!!! You will want to break the plates in half. Cons: The days you take it before you work out and you find out the gym is closed, and your hands shake for five hours afterward. That sucks.
METACUTS.... Just the name makes the die-hard lifter want to read the label. I did. One day in November I walked into GNC and I asked about Ripped Fuel because I'd heard so much about it. The guys that worked there told me that it was a good product,...
Pros: enhances workout activities Cons: longterm side effects unknown
While Popeye utilized Spinach, Lynbrook students prefer the consumption of creatine to enhance exercises.
Workout sessions are customary activities among Lynbrook athletes. Creatine has provided users with a muscle supplementation which can...
Pros: Small town love felt strongly Cons: Where are the gorgeous babes?
The Kent Athletic and Wellness Center is great. I have been a satisfied customer for 2 years now. The equipment is up to date. The personnel is very helpful. And the members are very friendly. The cost is also very reasonable. They employ many...
Pros: Good hourly rate on tennis courts if you can get one. Cons: Not well maintained and very crowded
This club is old and not well maintained. Roof leaks so bad in the winter that it shuts down indoor tennis courts. Indoor swimming pool is too cold to use during much of the winter months. (when do you want an indoor pool?) Extremely crowded during...
Pros: Bigger, faster, stronger... Cons: May cause small side effects. Talk to local GNC.
Many people feel that the only way to get strong is the natural way. They feel that using a supplement is only cheating yourself. I say that using a supplement is using your body's natural reaction to lifting except boosting it.
To me as a weight...
Pros: National Access, well outfitted Cons: Expensive
The Gold's Gym, a national franchise and locally in Layton, Utah, is a nice but expensive alternative to the multitude of tiny cheap gyms that have sprung up lately.
It's the most expensive gym in the area, but also offers by far the most...
Sport and Health clubs - Reston - STAY AWAY! RIPOFF by khmat ,Feb 02 '09
Pros: NOTHING. the good thing is that nothing good to say about this gym Cons: THIS PLACE IS A RIPOFF avoid at all costs join any other club
sport and health club sucks big time do not go there especially the one in reston. They charge $107 to sign with them and $40 a month - a rip off for a gym with old rusty squeaky equipment (reeeeeaaaaly old). They told me I would get 3 months free and then ended up charging me for it, they lie and are a ripoff
I asked the fitness trainer if they had any abdominal or gluteal or inner thigh machines and she kept saying 'don't use it it is not good' so why the fluff join that stupid club? people pay money to use the machines not for them to sit as decoration in that lame club
STAY AWAY FROM SPORT AND HEALTH CLUBS!!! JOIN ANY OTHER CLUB LIKE FITNESS FIRST OR BALLY ETC
I think that Gold's Gym in Campbell is a perfect place to work out. It has an amazing amount of workout equipment for every fitness level. Plus, it has a whole room of treadmills, stationary bikes and other cardio machines.
They offer lots of classes in pilates, aerobics, etc, etc.
The staff is very helpful and very knowledgeable about any aspect of working out with the machines to what cardio machine works best.
I give Gold's Gym in Campbell an A+ for the great job that they do there. And, it is a very clean and well kept place, too.
