How the cleat fits your fit is the key!

Jan 08 '00

As a coach for 14 years and active player for 25, I have one tidbit to share when it comes to fitting soccer cleats. Buy the brand that fits your foot the best! Ignore the fancy branding ad campaigns and the flashy colors and designs. Your feet will be raw and sore if buy on these and not on fit. When I learned this, I had fewer blisters, fewer calluses and actually was able to wear only one pair of thin socks which helps your touch which is so important.

For example, the brands that fit me best are:
Diadora, Lotto, Kelme and the new Adidas feet you wear last.

Tips:
Puma is generally wider than most.
Nike is narrow.
Lanzera is also narrow.
Adidas recently redid their last and is a bit wider than they used to be.
Asics is a bit wider than average.

Girls and women should buy shoes designed for women and not every manufacturer makes this distinction.
