Better commercials than service

I've never seen a commercial web site with a less user friendly interface. Didn't they test this thing with real users? You have to hunt around on their home page even to find the login button. Do they care about customers so little?
For example, when I click on Portfolios and then look at a chart, how hard would it be for them to chart the performance of the stock since I bought it, rather than the past three months in general. Web sites that know information about you, but then don't use it to help you, perplex me.
They use downright weird labels for their icons as well. What will I see when I click the zen-like "Knowledge Center" button? What's a "Professional Edge?" And if I don't click into the "Power E*Trade" section, will I be trading using no power at all?
I'm not a professional investor and don't pretend to know how to use all the "power" tools E*Trade provides. Would it be so hard for them to hold my hand a little more as we complete transactions and then monitor my stocks and mutual funds?
Apparently, it would.
