When my friend mentioned these diapers had given her daughter a rash, I shrugged and thought little of it. I had just purchased White Cloud from Wal-mart (I don't know if this is the only place they are sold or not), more out of curiosity than to save money, and well, MY son had never had a rash a day in his life. He just isn't rash prone.
The rash set in about a week after we started using White Cloud. It was an angry raised welt-like rash all over his privates and groin. Horrible! It cleared up in about two days of going back to our usual Pampers (not rash guard). Could it have been coincidence? I suppose. But we're not going back.
For those who still care to try this brand, let me go on:
These have the cloth like outer material with large velcro tabs. The velcro tabs were not only difficult to open (they had to be unfolded and pulled open, often requiring two hands and a close eye), but even worse, they were too easy for my son to remove. On the good side, the area where they could be fastened to the front of the diaper was quite large.
The fit was good around the waist thanks to very stretcheable gathering in the back. The legs were well gathered for fit as well, but the protective inner gathers were on the loose side, compared with Pampers. We did have overnight leakage one night in this area. White Cloud diapers have slightly less dense absorbant padding than Pampers, but the padding in the WC diaper does extend further up the backside than do Pampers, which is useful for those babies who have accidents up the back of their diapers. All in all, they did their job pretty well in keeping baby dry.
Still, I can't recommend a diaper that might cause a rash, no matter how great their absorbancy and fit.
