The semester comes to an end with a bang and not with a whimper for most teachers. All of us in the office were feeling the stress as we turned in our grades this year and made plans for the last six week's finals that would end the first semester. It was as if Christmas came out of a fog and I had not done my shopping. Research papers were keeping my desk cluttered and my mind to busy to think about Aunt Dorothy in Florida, my brother Ron in Montana, or my mother in Ohio who would note be as busy as me. One was home-bound in a nursing facility, one was ill, and one was, well, my mother and a hundred miles away. I rang FTD and ordered the Christmas special that I could afford. "I'll have something for around thirty-five to forty dollars, please" I told them the date of delivery and went back the work of reducing the causes of my immediate stress. There would be time later for making things ready for my own family celebrations . It wasn't until two weeks later that I got the calls. "This arrangement is so beautiful!" "You have spent to much!" "Darlin', you shouldn't have." I was so please to see the arrangements, as beautiful as ever, waiting when we finally finished all the work and had time to visit. How lovely the red candles were in a bed of pine and holly. The settings were so exciting and set the tone by producing the aromas and the visual picture that are Christmas to those of us who send our love through flowers. My desk will be clean and waiting for me to begin a new semester when I returned to it on January 3, and there in the middle of it, I know that I will find a bouquet that says, "Happy 2000!" My husband knows about the hard work ahead and he also knows what encourages me to start the year with a great attitude. Thank you FTD!
