My house was broken into a few weeks ago. My neighborhood was always the kind where you didn't have to lock your doors or worry about this crime but I guess no matter where you live, it can happen.
I decided that it was not going to happen again so my husband and I put up a 6 foot chainlink fence. Bought the biggest locks and chains we could find to secure the gates and then we called in Brinks Home Security.
I chose Brinks because:
a) At work we have this system and it has always been reliable.
b) I was able to get references.
c) A representative came to my house to inform us about the system, what our house would need and answer any questions.
d) The price is right.
The basic system consists of:
KEY PAD
CONTROL PANEL
2-3 DOOR CONTACTS
MOTION DETECTOR
TELEPHONE CONNECTION
INTERIOR SIREN
YARD SIGNS AND WINDOW DECALS
This is what we chose but if need be, we can add other options later.
The installation took about 6 hours and the technician was very polite, cleaned up after himself and explained in detail how to use the device and even gave me his pager number if I had any more questions.
The system is very simple to use. Simply turn on when you leave and punch in your code when you get back. At night, leave the motion sensor off. My daughter can use it with no problem. On the keypad (which can be clearly seen in the dark as it is lighted) there are 3 panic buttons; one for the police, one for an ambulance and one for fire. This is an added bonus. This system cost me $99 installed and the monitoring is $27.95 per month. I was surprised at the cost. How little to keep your family safe.

Today, I was welcomed to the Brinks community by a very nice lady from the main office. My daughter slept in her own room for the first time since the break-in last night and I went home for lunch feeling secure that I wouldn't find a thief in my house. It really makes a difference and I think that Brinks is responsible.
This system is also transferable at no cost to you if you move to another house. I recommend it to everybody. You need it in this day and age.
