I was at work today and needed to mail a letter, (yes, the old fashioned way) and I didn’t have a stamp. Last night I saw an add for Stamps.com. They said go to TryStamps.com for 20 dollars worth of Free stamps. Therefore I will by typing this as I login and try to get my free 20.00 dollars worth.
* Go to www.trystamps.com
* Stamps.com home page appears. (Hey, the free trial offer is actually 25.00 dollars) Wait here’s the catch. (there is a 10 percent usage fee, which is waived in the first month)
* First you need to download their free software or request a free CD. There are no sign-up fees associated with this software
* Then you need to complete the registration process, any service fees you incur over the first 30 days will be waived. They will then add the $25 in free postage into your account. This is good as long as you have an account, not just the first month.
* A 10% service fee will be charged on the postage you use after the first thirty days. Stamps.com does not charge a service fee for postage you purchase. For example, if you purchase $100 in postage, you will incur a fee in the second month, equal to 10% of the value of the postage you print that month (subject to the $1.99 minimum and $19.99 maximum - whether or not you print any postage).
* After the first month, i you use less than $20 postage in a month, there is a monthly minimum service fee of $1.99. We will never charge you service fees of more than $19.99 for any month regardless of how much postage you use. The plan is month to month, so you may cancel service at any time.
* Download and installation was real smooth. Just had to provide my word processor of choices, my contact manager and how I was connecting to the Internet.
* After I installed the software and rebooted my PC, I was unable to connect to there server to register. I tried a few different connection options. Error message: A connection the the Postage.com internet postage servers can not be made at this time, please check your network settings and try again." It may be related to our corporate firewall. I will try again tomorrow to see if its me or they didn't have their act together.
I will update this page when and if I finally get in.
Note: After registration with Stamps.com, it also requires you to get a USPS postage license in order to print Internet Postage.
If anyone else had this problem and resolved it, please post response.
