Postage from my printer!!! Beat that for convenience. Stamps.com is definitely the wave of the future. No more trips to the post office for those pesky little stamp booklets. I usually lose them before I've used up the stamps in them, anyway. And packages! Oh wow! You can mail packages from home with professional looking labels and postage all from the convenience of your inkjet printer.
I hope, as time goes on and users increase, that Stamps.com will enlarge the database of envelope sizes and will come up with a way to print the postage directly onto window envelopes. Right now, the limitations on envelope sizes exclude most popular greeting card envelopes and many bill paying envelopes. And the only way to use the window envelopes included with many bills and solicitations is to print on labels and stick them over the window. Tacky.
Given these limitations, though, Stamps.com is still a great convenience. Purchasing more postage is instantaneous using your credit card and the $25 per month limit (without additional service charge) is generous enough for most personal users. Higher volume plans are available. The $20 annual usage fee, while at first seemed a little steep to me, is really not bad at all when you realize how many times you don't have to go in search of postage stamps, or worse yet, postage for a package. The only draw back I have found is that I can't print postage when my phone line is tied up or my internet server is busy. A small concession, at best, for a great product.
