Pros: A dream come true for most Star Wars geek gamers...almost. Cons: Many glitches. If you want to be a Jedi...you must learn patience in R/T.
I recall the day that SWG was released. My roommate, then working a third shift job, drove straight from work to EB, then fabricated a story to ensure that he could get his grubby mitts on a copy. He burst into the apartment doing a jig, happily ...
Pros: Big planets, wide variety of play, beautiful graphics, Many months of entertainment, friendly players. Cons: Sometimes boring, can be frustrating at first. Requires a lot of hours of gameplay.
I came to epinions for opinions about this game back in april, so now that I've been playing it for 4 Months, I thought I would make a very straightforward review for the total newbie to MMORPG's (Massively Multiplayer Online Rale Playing Games) looking ...
Pros: The player base is awesome! Lots of content. Lots of different things to do. Cons: Game constantly changes. New bugs every month. NGE is awful. Professions are not balanced.
I have been playing since Jan 2004 and my wife started playing shortly thereafter. We now have three accounts total and we played 4-6 days a week for at least a couple hours each time until the NGE (New Game Enhancements) came online in mid-November ...
Pros: graphics, excellent crafting, you can own a house in game Cons: buggy, poor customer service, different worlds feature same creatures with different names
When I was invited to be a beta tester on May 8, 2003 for Star Wars Galaxies (SWG) I felt like I had ...
Pros: It's the ultimate game experience so far. Cons: Some immature attitudes to take with a massive amount of salt.
Oh the woes of PC Gamers! We complain about almost everything and anything in games, but none as much as the ones called MMORPGs. We don't get enough help, we don't get enough content and we don't have anyone listening to us when something goes ...
Pros: Choices in character creation, career opportunities, customizable attributes, immersive environment.
Cons: Lag in heavy traffic areas, slow customer support, one character per server, buggy
Star Wars Galaxies had me foaming at the mouth for months before it’s eventual release. After many setbacks and changes to the estimated release date I was very pleased when I finally brought my copy home. I purchased 2 copies of the collector’s edition f ...
Pros: Excellent theme, graphics, sound, and good fun! Cons: Grinding for XP is monotonous at best, hard for the casual gamer to get into.
Few games have ever been as highly anticipated as Star Wars Galaxies, Sonys Star Wars-themed massively multiplayer online roleplaying game (MMORPG) offering. From the outset people knew this game was going to be different, and they couldnt wait ...
Pros: Graphics, variety of gameplay, ability to build houses & cities, STAR WARS. Cons: Not really that different from other MMORPG's, Server Problems from the start.
Anyone who grew up either in the 70's or 80's and has a little bit of geek or nerd in them is probab ...
Pros: Great graphics, new take on professions and skills, ability to solo or team easily Cons: Single character servers (semi-plus, semi-con), can't be a Jedi without a LOT of grinding
I have a confession to make. I am not a huge Star Wars fan. I enjoyed the movies, don't get me wrong, but it is not a religion nor a lifestyle for me. Thus, I will not have tons of Star Wars info to put into this review. In fact, when I first ...
Pros: Game like no other. Endless angles of gameplay. Hours, no YEARS of entertainment. Cons: A little expensive. Lag problems in cities. Need high end computer to meet minimum requirements.
Before Star Wars Galaxies was even released to the public I had been keeping on eye on its developme ...
Pros: it is Star Wars, it has some good quests Cons: way too much downtime and need of entertainers and medical centers
I am a social gamer. I don't have tons of time to be playing on-line games even though I try to. I find it takes too long to level and there is too great a need for the reduction of battle fatigue and wound healing. In my opinion there are too many pro ...
Pros: It's star wars Cons: no longer MMORPG style, horrible customer service, lots of bugs that are never resolved
I've been playing this game almost since launch and it was a wonderful competitive, complex, fast-paced, character building, unique game from all other MMORPG style games in the industry. I, like many, am a big Star wars buff. The community was huge and ...
Pros: Nice Graphics.
Content that keeps you engaged, so long as you do Combat stuff.
Cons: AWOL Development Team (usually)
Social professions need a lot of help
Poor communication from Devs
I've played this game for 6 months now. It's a lot of fun, and friends are what keep you coming back. The graphics are cool, and the options are endless. Sort of. The single greatest drawback? The development team for this game. They focus ...
Pros: Graphics/sound rocks
Addictive once you get into it.
Can solo or group
Awesome crafting Cons: Grinding
Hard to learn
Horrible customer service
Well it turned out my own isp was to blame for the lag. Although finding this out had nothing to do with a csr helping me..so in retrospect Id say the lag isnt as bad as I first thought, still the customer support on this title is a pain and any ...
Pros: Great animations and graphics very fluid since not many are online anymore Cons: Some people get very emotional on their game play or lack there of.
I have been playing this game for about 3 years and have seen minute and dramatic changes in game play. In the old days Pre-CU (Before the Combat Upgrade), the profession of Jedi was virtually unattainable to anyone without a considerable investment in ...
Pros: Excellent for fun and socializing with other humans Cons: requires pretty steep computer system upgrades
I started playing from day 2 of the release. I still play and have a great life inside the game. I have friends that will last forever. Now, to the game itself... Since it is an online game with an everchanging world, don't expect for it to have an ...
Pros: Can be fun and action filled! Cons: cheaters, lag, customer service
Being a non-gamer, I was introduced to SWG by my better half...ultimate gamer! I didn't quite know what I was supposed to do, so I DESPISED it!! I got on for an hour or so a week, desperately trying to figure out what all his excitement was with this ...
Pros: Most likely will be dead by spring of 2006 Cons: Most likely will be dead by spring of 2006, Sony ruined a great game!
For those of you whom liked swg for it's original feel and gameplay wave good bye. The combat upgrade is nothing but a ripoff from games such as worlds of warcraft, Ever Quest2, and Guild wars. On top of that the devs rushed to push the revamp live and ...
Pros: Space, Star Wars Cons: Juvenile players, SOE, cliched missions
I picked up SWG just after the now infamous NGE debacle (I won't go into this, too many other people have), and found myself engrossed in the seemingly 'alternate' Star Wars universe I was presented with. The graphics, whilst not up to the standard of ...
Pros: Used to be fun, graphics are nice, sounds are good, JTL is pretty decent Cons: Horrible new combat system, player base dropping daily, no longer unique, lag, poor customer support
This is my opinion and my experience, you can choose to believe it or not. First let me say, i am still a player and have been since launch of the game. It used to be a unique game, in that it has great graphics, HAD a gaming system like no other, ...
Star Wars Galaxies, After 3 or 4 MASSIVE overhauls and 2 years later. by sanitarium81 ,Jan 18 '06
Pros: fration controled planets, cant think of anything, just typing this. Cons: gameplay, jedi, control's, buggy, long loads, usless professions, lack of people, useless drops.
I came to SWG (star wars galaxies) the day it launched, meaning i had it in my hands at launch day but couldnt play because of a terrible launchpad bug. It was a Good fun, some time monotonous rpg. but it was accepted very well and there where a lot of complaints. So they did there first of 3 complete overhaul patches that changed the way it played all the way down to character dev, and leveling. One would have been ok, BUT they have done this to many times and have completely ruined the online RPG experience.
So many things are buggy in this game even today.eg. some days my group chat wouldnt work, random hi-level spawns in lowbie areas, fraction mis-rewards.
The quest system is a joke. and now with the instant jedi character there so rampant they've made the Bounty Hunter profession useless because jedis now run in huge packs and kill anything thats on there opposite fraction.
summery - I've blacklisted this game, so many headaches and wasted time. not to mention the lack of any useful game material.
Pros: great concepts, good graphics Cons: everything is bugged, nothing is getting fixed, more things are breaking.
This is a terrible gaming experience for anyone. The game has been out a few months now and these are my observations... the developers working on this have little experience in what they are doing. Sony is not listening to customers. Bugs are not being fixed. For every fix that is implemented, something else breaks. Buggy patches are continually pushed out that break more than they fix. Poor communication... the list goes on. Forget the minimum requirements. I run with 1 gig of ram and a 128M vid card and have settings about 1/2 way up... anything higher and the game is unplayable.
Pros: It's a beautiful setting, it has a Star Wars feel to it.
Cons: Poor development, poor customer service, too few rewards at too high a cost.
More than a year after release, numerous professions are still broken and fixes to the core game have been postponed over and over in order to make way for the expansion coming out soon. Broken professions, poor response from developers to constructive customer feedback, poor customer support, current subscribers leaving out of frustration and boredom.
The short of it: spend your money on almost anything else.
Pros: None Cons: I hate deceptive packaging. I let my kid down because of these thieves.
Here I am, in the computer store shopping for a Star Wars game for my nine year old. He's already become pretty proficient at Jedi Outcast 2. So I look at the packaging for Star Wars Galaxies and Knights of the Old Republic.
The Galaxies game looks interesting so I pay the thirty bucks to buy it. It wasn't till I get home and try to install the three CD monster that it informs me on the last screen that it wants my credit card number.
That's when my 45 yr. old eyes see the tiny small print on the very bottom of the box that states that it needs continual cash feedings to be operable.
