Wonderfully informative article, Mark! I enjoyed reading (and mentally re-experiencing)the all-too numerous times I myself have traveled abroad - with more than the normal amount of abuse and disdain!

Your information concerning passenger's rights and where to go for help will be a godsend to many people - no doubt in my mind.

I wish that I knew about this before. I unfortunately got stuck with only tickets to be able to sit in first class the next time I was to buy a ticket with their airline. {Reno Air} that is. If I every have another problem with an airline I will know what I can do to try and get better results. Thankyou!

All too often we let bad service slip through the cracks because of the effort involved in making ourselves heard.

I have found in many cases it pays to make your problem known. Often you will be surprised at the response. It may only turn out to be a coupon good for more travel, but it does make you feel better.

Thanks for the advice on the advocate site! I'll be visiting and bookmarking that one for sure. :)

I am a frequent flyer and a former Eastern Airlines flight attendant. In the past I have faced many headaches and problems with lost bags, cancelled flights, rude flight attendant etc., ect.. I have found that writing directly to the company I have succeded in getting some sort of compensation for the mishaps. It is good to know that for a small fee someone else can do the work for one. Next time I find myself in this predicament I might ask for help.
