I fly frequently...

I have been flying several times a year since I was 16, and I am 21 now. I used to just call up the different airlines, and compare all the different prices. Being that I live in a relatively small city in Indiana, it is almost impossible to find a direct flight to many large cities. The connecting flight just makes it more expensive.
So, I started shopping online for airline tickets, and I found it much less time consuming to find a good quote on a flight, if you know where to look. I found Travelocity.com to be a great option, because you can search by several different options. You can search for the 9 best itineraries for the flight you requested, for specific dates and times, or not specific. This past July of '00, I just found a flight to Baltimore from South Bend, Indiana with a connecting flight in Detroit, for $187. Not bad, huh?
Another tip I have is if you live in a smaller city whose airport doesn't cater to your needs very well, and charges exuberant prices to fly to major cities with connecting flights, I advise you to travel by bus or train to the nearest major city, and fly from there. It might sound crazy, but it is worth it if it saves you a lot of money. For example, I have been looking for a flight to New York City for quite some time now, being that I'm a student, and I looked all over, and couldn't find anything cheaper than $574, even using Travelocity. AAAAHHH! I could fly to Europe round trip for that amount. So I decided to take the bus to Chicago( which is 2 hours away from me), and then fly round trip from there. It turns out that there was a quote for $199 from Chicago to NY, so I took it. Then with the bus fare, which was $56 round trip, my entire trip totaled $275!!! A whole lot better than $574!
