If you're planning an extensive trip overseas, do check out www.AirTreks.com. They offer a unique service catering to travelers with multiple destinations all around the world. They frequently have deals for under $1.5K which takes you around the world.
I took a trip which took me to three continents and 10 cities in Asia, South East Asia, and through Australia. It's quite a pain to set up such an itinerary on online ticket sites, but AirTreks.com makes is very easy.
The service was a bit slow at times (might have been due to the holiday season), but for the price you can't beat it.
