Double USAir Miles
Mar 31 '00
Until may 15th, USAir is offering double miles on all flights.
Because of the threatened strike, US Air lost a lot of business as many travellers booked on other airlines as they didn't want to get stranded. I personally flew on Continental for the first time in five years. To get those flyers back, USAir is offering to double your miles on every flight.
You don't even have to sign-up for this bonus - its automatically calculated.
This is important because
1. A single roundtrip from east to west coast will earn you about 10,000 miles. In my case Philly to SanFran is 2,525 miles, roundtrip that and doubles is 10,100 miles. Thats half a free ticket.
2. If you're in no big hurry to get where you are going, take a connection. To use the previous example, Philly to DC is 500 mile minimum, then DC to SanFran is about 2,400 - making 2,900 miles in total. I get an extra 1500 miles or so just doing this.
3. The double miles count towards your mileage totals for achievement of
elite status. On USAir you need 25,000 to get to the lowest level. So if you may be close to getting 25,000 miles this year, use this bonus as a way of getting there.
4. Any other mileage bonuses, like a 50% kicker for silver members, still apply to the base miles.
(I'm writing this Epinion as a service to you frequent travellers out there, but please rate/comment it anyway)
If you got this far here is an extra tip. Ever been on a business or personal trip and needed some extra money and don't want to pay ATM fees ?? Many hotels, if you are a member of their Frequent Guest programs will give you $100 and charge it to your bill. Save ATM fees, get points for the extra charges - and even more points if you use an affinity card to pay your bill.
Safe travels.
