Fly absolutely, 100% For Free!!! Try this!

Review of Free Air Fare (September 15, 2000)

I've read all about the vouchers from airlines for taking later flights, the various discount web sites for cheap tickets, and special coupons for flights. These ways offer nothing compared to my method of flying free. It is very simple and absolutely, 100% free! I use this method all the time, and it is the best thing there is for flying free.

Years ago, I had ambitions of traveling all over the world - starting with traveling all over the country. To do this I would have had to have a lot of money, or get cheap airline tickets. I searched around for offers (in the pre-internet days) and found a very large NY City bank offered a Visa or Mastercard credit card that gave points out for each dollar you spent. There was an annual fee of $79 for enrollment. You could buy almost anything with the credit card, and for every dollar you spent on your statement, you got a point. Collect 35,000 points, and you get a free airline ticket.

I subscribed to the card, but curiosity got the better of me. If this card offered this type of deal, I wondered if other cards had similar offers? I called dozens of banks, credit card companies, airlines, travel agents, and travelers to determine the answer. Some of the credit card companies had similar offers, but with different airlines - nothing better.

Then, one day I was at work at my office and I needed to cash a check. Our office building has a credit union on the first floor, so I stopped by. They informed me I had to be a member in order to use their banking services, so I asked for an application. The membership package included information about a Mastercard credit card that has all the features of the one I was paying for, for free! Plus, the amount of points you need to have to get a free ticket was far less than the other card I had.

The name of the credit union is Affinitity Federal Credit Union. They are currently located in New Jersey, and in several other states. Their toll-free phone number is 1(800)325-0808. In order to order the credit card you must first be a member of the credit union. Membership is also free. You simply need to open a savings account and deposit a penny in the account. You also need to open a checking account and deposit $5 in the account. Ask them for a coupon to get free printed checks! As this is a credit union, they may have some membership restrictions, which are relatively easy to get around. They are always looking to expand into new businesses, so if you are a business owner, you might want to ask to have your business enrolled for membership.

The credit card itself is a regular gold Mastercard credit card. The gold Visa card does not have the same benefits. With the Mastercard, you can get a free domestic airline ticket with only 20,000 points. If you do the math, you need to charge $20,000 in order to get the free plane ticket. There is no cost or fees for the credit card. Interest rates on the card are relatively low. Credit limits vary depending on your credit history. There are no restrictions on how long it takes to earn a free plane ticket, nor any restrictions on when you must order a ticket once you have 20,000 points. In fact, there are various other prizes you may wish to opt for in lieu of the plane ticket.

To order the plane ticket, once you have 20,000 points, simply call another toll free phone number and speak with the flight ticket coordinator. They will select the best airline available for your area. All flights are coach flights and some may require a short stop over, although I never had to stop over or change planes in my many uses of the service. There may be a fee if you need to make changes to reservations after tickets are issued. Tickets are mailed to your home, and the new "ticketless" service is also available for no additional cost.

Well, the service is great and I highly recommend it. If you can't join Affinity Federal Credit Union, I would suggest checking with a credit union in your area that you may join. Maybe they have the same service!

Thank you for reading my review. Good luck and have a nice day!

Mike
