Not so great for airline tickets

I thought Pricline was going to be this great way to lowball any airline price. I was severly disappointed.
Priceline is easy to use. You just put in your city of origin and destination and a few options to better your chances. The whole process of bidding a purchasing your ticket is very easy. In that aspect I was very pleased. Customer service was also very good. The reps were knowledgeable and patient enough to answer my questions.
The problem I discovered was that you could get the same or better price just by doing a little digging at the airline websites. If you go to, say, Southwest's or Delta's websites you will find that they offer periodic specials and they even have their own internet deals that are only available if you reserve and buy through the internet. All these airline site specials are just as good as priceline's deals. Plus you get to book directly with the airline instead of going through priceline and running into potential problems with losing your reservation or it not going through.
All the major ailines do E-tickets now so priceline is notmuch of an advantage for travelers who are booking in advance. If you have the time just go to an airline's website and reserve your flight that way. Also most airline specials allow you to book as little as 7 days in advance further eliminating a need for pricline. However, if you need a flight tomorrow priceline may be your best and only answer.
