If you are used to Disney World, Opryland CAN be a disappointment. BUT if you live in Nashville or surrounding cities, it was a lot of fun to be able to go for the afternoon and not have to drive for hours. I only lived in Nashville (area) for a few years before they tore it down but we had a lot of fun each time we went. We usually went with a few friends a made a day of it and acted like kids again.
Even now, Opryland Hotel still offers some entertainment as far as the Hotel goes. There are several different parts of the hotel and one is made to resemble The French Quarter in Louisiana. The whole hotel dresses up for Christmas and has a million lights!! We went this year and my two year old was very intriqued by the lites and all the decorations. Opryland used to be open for Christmas time and had big bonfires around areas with hot cider and chocolate. It was a neat time of the year to go, also.
Yes, Opryland Themepark is missed by some of us, even if you grew up near Disney World!!
