Last-Minute Airfare Bargains
Sep 08 '99
All of the major US airlines have begun offering last-minute travel bargains. Released late on Tuesday or early Wednesday morning, these fares are good usually for travel departing that Friday or Saturday and returning the following Sunday, Monday or Tuesday. Most airlines post the fares on their web site along with offering a free e-mail alert.
If you visit Airlines of the Web at http://www.flyaow.com/internetonlydeals.htm you can find a list of airlines that offer these specials.
Smarter Living at http://www.smarterliving.com offers a database where you can search the last-minute fares from about twenty airlines. They also have a free e-mail service where you can have all the last-minute fares from the departure city you select e-mailed to you.
These fares are usually great bargains. The problem is though the fares and routes change from week to week. Since you never know if you'll be able to get a fare the week you want to travel, these are not appropriate for trips you must make. Also, be aware that the bargain seats sell out fast so book as quickly as possible.
