Make sure you are getting the best deal

Often student discounts are based on discounts from full price. At times the discounts offered to the general public, especially during special promotions, will exceed your student discount. This is especially true with airlines that are filling seats to certain destinations.
Airline seats may be purchased on-line at various auction sites and through discount brokers. These tickets sometimes are the least expensive tickets available to destinations. Often the auction tickets can be purchased at significant discount levels. To do this, get a quote for the student price and compare it to the high auction bid. If you can get it cheaper on line by bidding go for it. Just make sure you are getting the same service.
Major hotels often provide good rates at cities where rooms need to be filled up. Often these rates can be close to if not lower than the student discount. In that case, book as a regular traveler so that you can avoid being targeted as a student and given a lower quality room.
One of the best ways to travel now as a student or non-student is to use an auction site or a site like Priceline. You can then set your own price for the services you want. When that does not get you the best price, seek out businesses that cater to students as they often provide your best prices and services aimed at students. You likely will meet other student travelers this way.
Have fun!
