Finding Cheap Airfares

I DO Fly, and I DON'T Use Gimmicks

Sep 06 '00

I live in a very rural area, where the airport was (honestly) built where it is BECAUSE it was the foggiest place in the nation that the military could find to test airplane radar! To make it worse, there is only one airline in and out of the place. . .making the air fare so high that traversing the continent is cheaper than getting round trip tickets from the San Francisco Airport, CA to our area (and that flight is about an hour's flight time, or less!). I really enjoy traveling by air, but, I don't enjoy driving 7 or 8 hours on winding, mountain cliff roads that are constantly being worked on, causing long waits in the middle of no where, in order to only need to pay the fare from San Francisco!

By really going through all the air fares listed on the net, I have found that just 7 day prior to departure ticket buying brings the cost of flying out of my area to San Francisco and going on to Las Vegas, Nevada, round trip. . . down to $205.. The normal air fare is between $600 to $800.! There are other little items that I need to consider. I need to travel on Tues., Wed., or Thurs. for the best price. I need to be ready to travel in the very early morning or the last flight out of the 'night's' schedule. Trust me, for $400 to $600, I don't have any problem with this!

When only one airline flies in and out of an airport, you can bet that airline 'works' it! I'd been told by this airline that I needed to buy tickets up to 14 days in advance to get any deals. Checking the airfares, closely, myself has proven to be very financially correct. The lowest fare they EVER told me about was well over $400. That was asking about their lowest fares, leaving the cheapest days, traveling at the cheapest hours.

Don't take your airline's word for anything, if you are able to check it out, yourself! I found it interesting that the extra price they said they would charge me, should I make a change regarding return flights, was a myth, also. I changed my last flight home twice, and didn't need to pay any extra. They say it matters what type of ticket a person has. . .maybe so. I changed my return flight, twice, for one trip. . .didn't ask for anything special, came home when I wanted, and didn't pay an extra cent.

Don't over pay for your air fares. Check it out!
