Fly Baby Fly!

Flying with a 3 month old was certain to be a test of our mettle. But we had to go to a family event, so it was necessary to make the trek. A few words of caution and advice.
Planning in advance: make sure that you have extra diapers, cloths, food, bottles, amusing things (more important for the older ones), etc. to keep safe just in case of DELAY or anything else! This could wreck the entire trip if you start off on the wrong foot.
Checking the stroller: we have a snap n' go that was pretty handy. We cruised up to the gate and told them that we wanted a "gate delivery" ticket. That way you can give it to them at the gate and then get it right after you get off the plane. Be sure that if you have a 2-part stroller that you get 2 tags for it- you do not want to lose any pieces! We used the infant seat going in one direction, but honestly, when they are that little, are you really going to put them in a seat? My son sat in my lap. It was a hassle getting it on and we didn't really use it.
Air Pressure: I am nursing so I nursed my son during take offs and landings- it seemed to help with the air pressure- make sure that they are sucking something during ascent and descent! Bring extra bottles if necessary for this. VERY IMPORTANT- to heat up the bottle you can ask the stewards to give you a cup of hot water (as if for tea) to warm it up. Ask early before they get busy.
Temperature: planes are usually chilly- especially while they are sitting on the runway. Be sure to take extra blankets and sweaters. I found that a blanket worked better because I didn't have to bother him while he was sleeping.
Good luck- fly safe!
