Marriott Miles go a long way

I have increased my travels over the years. I have been fortunate to stay in a wide variety of hotels around the world. So far, my overall favorite chain is Marriott. Part of the reason they keep me happy is the Marriott rewards/miles program.
On every stay I accumulate lots of points towards free stays at a huge number of Marriott Hotels. Not only can I choose the Marriott name brand hotels, I can also choose to stay in most of the properties within the Marriott family of hotels and resorts. Many of them are among the best facilities at a specific destination.
I like Marriott because there is some consistency between locations, when it comes to overall treatment of guests and "house rules." When I am not happy about something that has happened in one of their locations, I am made right immediately. Case in point, while at the Anaheim Marriott by the convention center there, the housekeeping staff did a poor job, including trying to enter the room on more than one occasion without knocking first. After I left a complaint letter for the General Manager, I returned from that day's conference to find my room adorned with gifts and a chilled bottle of wine. In fact there was too much to eat and drink then so I brought most of the goodies home with me. I also have voicemail from the Manager. She wanted to personally chat with me and make sure everything can been corrected.
When I talked to her, I was pleased to tell her the room situation was corrected beyond my expectations. I also thanked her for the gifts. She basically told me that next time I am in town, I would get a free room or a suite for the price of a regular room. That was in part her way to ensure that she kept the Marriott Reward member, me, happy.
I have redeemed awards with no difficulty. In fact, I used one point saver reward for a room that otherwise would have cost me almost $400 per night in Tokyo. That is a reward.
Think Marriott and you should be pleased at your choice.
