Came through for me

I, like any good traveller, make the rounds of the online ticketing sites. I have email subscriptions to various notifier services. Yesterday I got a notifier that the price had just gone down on a flight from New York to Portland. I wasn't in the market, but my friend was. She had in fact just made a reservation for a less convenient flight for $50 more. Within minutes we had her perfect flight reserved. Travelocity is especially good if cheap is really your first priority.
It's easier to put in flexible plans or wrap your plans around the cheapest flights. For instance, I live in New York and don't care which of the three airports I use as long as the flight is cheap, but lots of places don't let you put in "Any New York area airport" so you would have to look three times at each airport. The notifiers they send me about the cheapest published flights to my favorite destinations are generally a good deal cheaper than what I get by looking up specific dates on other programs.
On a negative note, I did have some technical difficulties with some of the pages not completing their download. I had to hang up and call the airline directly. Of the sites I know I would use Lowestfare.com first, Travelocity second, Expedia third and the airlines' own sites last. I haven't tried Priceline.com yet.
