The forecast calls for a WHITE Christmas at Walt Disney World
Nov 28 '00
If your family is planning a December trip to Walt Disney World, you are coming at one of the most festive times of the year.
However, with the Temperature in Central Florida reaching the Upper 70's it hardly seems like Christmas. Certainly one would not expect it to snow. Hold on just a minute! The forecast guarantees a White Christmas in Orlando!
There are several places in Orlando that "stage" artificial snowfall, each night during the Holiday season. All though I was raised in Louisiana, and have spent the last 7 years in Florida, and cannot claim to have ever seen real snow, this fake stuff actually looks real.
At Disney MGM Studios, In the New York section, there is a continual snowfall each night, starting at nightfall, and continuing until the park closes. This snowfall is actually whipped soap. It smells good, and it is fluffy and white. Just don't look up, because it will sting your eyes.
The snow at Disney MGM Studios in part of the Christmas Light display "The Osbourne Family Spectacle of Lights." The entire backlot is covered in over 4 million Christmas Lights. You can also pose for photographs with Disney Characters dressed in Holiday wear.
The prices for admission to Disney MGM Studios will be $48.76 for Adults and $39.22 for kids 3-9.
At the Magic Kingdom, during select night s from November 30 through December 15, Snow falls down on Main Street USA. This snow fall is part of the Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party. This event requires a special ticket, separate from regular admission. Tickets are $31.00 for Adults and $21.00 for kids. This event premiers the annual Christmas Parade.
Each day at the Magic Kingdom, during the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony, snow will fall in Town Square and on Main Street. This is also the sudsy variety of snow.
The biggest winter party in Central Florida is FREE. In Celebration, the town that Disney built, there is a big party every night.
On Market Street, which is in the center of the town, there are Snowfall on the hour at 6:00, 7:00.8:00, and 9:00. The snow will fall nightly until December 31.
Your family can take a horse drawn carriage ride from 6:00 - 10:00 PM each night.
Dickens Christmas Carolers will perform each Friday and Saturday night through December 23. On other nights, there will be school children performing carols in choirs.
Santa and Mrs. Santa make appearances every night, in the life size gingerbread House. The house is right on Celebration Lake. You can take home a digital photograph to remember the occasion. On Wednesday nights, you can bring your pets. Santa will pose for pet photos. Portions of the proceeds will go to support the Humane Society.
The entire town is picture perfect. It looks like photographs of Better Homes and Gardens. It really does resemble a movie set. It reminds me of "It's a Wonderful Life."
Celebration is located on HWY. 192, just minutes from Walt Disney World.
If the temperature really rises during you Christmas trip, you can always head over to Blizzard Beach. Blizzard Beach used to be a Snow Ski resort. Of course the hot Florida sun melted all of the snow, and the result was Water Slides, formed from the melting glaciers. You can pose for pictures with Ice Gator, the mascot of Blizzard Beach.Them price for the Winter experience will be $27.00 for Adults and $21.50 for Kids 3-9.
So, for the true believers, Yes, there will be a White Christmas in Orlando this year!
