I have tried quite a few online sites for booking my plane tickets and priceline is easily the best in my opinion. Most significantly, it gives you the best price among all and is very reliable and convenient to use. I would say that priceline has ticket prices atleast 25-30% lower then the next best thing. While other sites like expedia.com and cheaptickets.com might quote 300 dollars for the ticket, priceline will get it for you at around 170(43% lower).
They also have this scheme where one sponsor will pay upto 50 dollars of your ticket price for filling out their survey form or subscribing to their service like applying for a credit card or something. I think thats a great idea because for 10-15 minutes of filling forms, you end up saving a lot of money.
One problem with priceline is that you have to have a flexible plan as far as dates and timing is concerned to get a good deal. Also, you donot have the option to not buy a ticket once you bid for it and get a ticket at that price. So make sure you are ready to pay whatever you bid for.You might want to check some other sites to get an estimate of the price range.Start with a reasonably lower price than the other sites(say upto 50-60% lower)and then move up. Priceline will mail you within the hour whether you have got the ticket or not. You can either increase your bid or change some part of your travel plan, like a date, the airport etc. Check out their low rates calender. It is really useful and can save you some bucks.
Remember, that if you enter a new bid you lose the sponsor's discount. One trick you can use is to register at the site under 2-3 names and if your ticket gets rejected bid under a different name while making use of the scheme. Also, you have to bid atleast 24 hours before the traveling date.
Overall, I would say that if you have flexible travel plans, donot mind hops and book early you can get a great price at priceline.com and it really delivers.
