Spend to Save

The old adage "You get what you pay for" really applies here. To truly reap all benefits while enjoying a budget-minded Disney vacation, I strongly recommend staying on the Disney property. The All Star Music, Movie, and Sports Review lodgings are economical, ranging between $75 and $125 per night. Although the rooms are small, they do sleep four comfortably. However the range of opportunities beyond the room are where the true value lies.
When staying on a Disney property the Disney Transportation System is afforded you at no additional charge. Buses run from each hotel on a regular schedule. They depart the Theme Parks on regular intervals as well.
For families with small children this is ideal for leaving the parks in the afternoon and returning to your room for a swim and a nap. We are especially thrilled as it allows our older teens to come and go as they please. (And yes, Disney is extremely security-minded).
Where is the savings? The savings is especially prominent for those who have arrived in Orlando via airplane. Staying on a Disney property makes paying for a rental vehicle unnecessary. Everything you could possibly need is available on the Disney properties.
But isn't eating there ridiculously expensive? Yes and no. True, the meals are pricey, but there is indeed a method to the madness of eating at Disney World. Have breakfast in your room. Opt for a vending cart and have juice and muffins, or if your room has a refrigerator, purchase cereal and milk from one of the Disney stores. Have your largest meal of the day for lunch, when many of the restaurants feature the same entrees at much less cost. Also consider splitting an adult entree between two children, as the coast is generally less than ordering two children's meals.
Staying at a Disney property also allows early admission to the Theme Parks. Each hotel is allowed admission an hour earlier than the public on specific days. Check with the front desk for a listing. This allows your family to enjoy the more popular rides and attractions before the general public arrives and swarms of people form enormous lines!
Yes, there are inexpensive values for staying in Kissimmee, but before you jump at a "deal" take into consideration the cost of a rental vehicle, parking at Disney, and the commute to and from the Theme Parks. Chances are you'll discover that staying at a Disney property is the best value of all.
