The Disney Dream

Jul 12 '00

I went to Disney World, in Orlando Florida twice, once when I was about 12 years old, and then again when I was 17. I loved it just as much both times. Some of the rides I went on when I was 12 are still fresh in my mind.

One of my favorites was the It's a small world.
The work that went into this ride, must of been great. I sat in a boat, beside my cousin, who was my age, and the ride began through tunnels, that contained sections, that represented different country's of the world, which contained Animated characters dressed in beautiful costumes. Some were singing and dancing to the tune of "it's a small world." This ride is a must for the whole family while you are in Disney World.

Another one of my favorite attractions there, was the Haunted mansion.
As you are waiting in the line to enter the mansion, You can gaze upon the creepy cemetery, which sets the mood for the wonders ahead. You will start you ride by sitting in a chair that may accommodate up to three passengers. The chair moves along on a track through the mansion, at one point the chair will turn and swing in different directions, so that you can view a witches image in a crystal ball, and listen as she blurts out ghoulish ingredients of her magic potion, that she is concocting.

It was quite creepy. You will even pass by some hitch-hiking ghosts. They are so realistic looking, their heads turn as you go by, and their eyes watch you. But what blew me away most of all, was nearing the end of the ride, your chair will swing toward some mirrors, showing the ghosts, seated with you!
There are many great sites to this ride. Passing through the eerie dinning room, the hall way with the bending door, there was green fingers prying the door open. Enough can't be said about this wonderful ride.

The Pirates of the Caribbean was another exceptional attraction. This is yet again another fun filled boat ride. The best part to this ride was traveling through a cave entrance that leads you to this skull hanging on a wall, nested on the skull's head was a black bird. The skull warns you of rough waters ahead. Moments later your boat plunges down a water fall.
This is where the ride begins, you will pass through an area where one animated pirate is sloshed and relaxing in a pig pen, covered in mud.

You also pass under a bridge, that has a pirate sitting on it, I was amazed at how real his hairy leg looked, as it hung off the side of the bridge.
The best feature to this ride will be when your boat passes between a pirate's ship, while blasting cannon balls at a fort on land. Cannon balls will be splashing beside your boat.

I don't know how they make these amazing attractions look so realistic, but it must of took some pretty talented artists and a lot of hard work.
It's been a long time since I have been to Disney World, and they have added a great deal of new attractions since. I have a dream that one day I will be able to take my two children and my wife there.
So they too can enjoy the magic.

I don't believe I will go unless I can spend at least one week in Disney World alone. And I don't even know if that is enough time to see everything in the park.
The place is wonderful and I highly recommend it for people of all ages.
