Planning a Trip with American Airlines' AAVacations

Jan 23 '00

My fiancee and I will be getting married in the end of July. We immediately decided that we would like to visit Lake Tahoe for a week on honeymoon. After months (yes months) of researching and shopping around, I stumbled upon American Airlines's http://www.AAVacations.com

I still have this paradigm that American Airlines is expensive and luxurious. (The two usually go hand in hand) I flew with them one time a few years ago, but I did not purchase the ticket. Anyways, we already planned on staying at the Caesars' Tahoe for 6 nights. That was going to be $1396 for a Premium Room-Suite. We had also planned on renting a car for 7 days which would be another $250. The cheapest round trip airfare we could find was $290 per person and it had a inline connection flight each way. Inline meaning, that it was on our way and not way out of our way. Chicago-> Denver -> Reno and not Chicago ->Seattle -> Reno. We could find cheaper, but that involved 2 connections and that would be too much of a pain and a waste of time. A 4 hour straight through flight would have turned into a "9 hour trip" when it was all said and done.

Anyways, those were the best prices we could come up with after 2 months of research and planning. So I begin browsing AAVacations.com. I noticed that it truly is a vacation planner and you could book everything at one time. So I went ahead and filled in the dates, and selected the hotel and a few other pieces of information that the site requested. So after a few seconds the results pop up and I select the exact flight I'd like and hit the submit button and preparing to see the vacation package price. It was $362 less than the previous cheapest package price I had. The hotel was the same, I upgraded the rental car, AND we had 2 roundtrip DIRECT FLIGHT (no connections) tickets on American Airlines for $1886. That included everything except for the gas and extra insurance options on the rental car. The flights broke down to $270/person. That's $40 less (total) than the already cheapest airfare we could find.

I was a bit pessimistic, so I called up AAVacations and I was speaking with a representative within 30 seconds of making the call. She was so informative and kind. I immediately had her put that vacation package on hold. She had informed me to create an AAdvantage account for free on their webpage so that I could earn the Extra 3000 miles for booking an AAVacation.

If you are planning a trip, you must go visit http://www.AAVacations.com and see what kind of a price they offer. I noticed the price fluctuated +/- $200 when I would select different combinations of flights. But nevertheless, it saved me a nice chunk of money, and if I would have gone there earlier, it would have saved me a large chunk of time. They booked everything for me within 15 mins. Definitely 2 thumbs up and 5 stars
