The best site for Last minute airfares that aren't really last minute!

I am an avid traveler who often waits until the last minute to plan a trip because of the amount of money you can save. After reading the numerous advice of other members regarding last minute deals, I noticed that the deal I found has to be one of the best out there.
I am planning a trip to Egypt this winter break, and I was disgusted and discouraged when I saw how expensive the flight alone to Egypt was. I tried all of the typical websites, i.e., priceline, expedia, preview travel, cheapfares, ual, nwa, etc. I even tried using my ISIC card (as I am still a student) and the best price council travel was able to offer me was $1270 with an arrival time of 3am.
I grew hopeless and almost opted to pay this price until I found a web site called "tripmakers.com". While everyone was offering me prices from $1270 to $2400 for a flight from LAX to Cairo, tripmakers was able to find me a flight for $890, including all taxes. This price was for a major airline, and flying during peak season.
This is only the second time I have used this site, but the first time they were also able to find me a last minute fare to Sweden during the 4th of July weekend for $700. This was very generous given that we made the reservations less than one week before we had to leave. Because this trip was an emergency, we desperately contacted a number of airlines for their bereavement fares. The only fare that came even close to what tripmakers offered was Northwest's bereavement fare for $1300--$600 more than tripmakers last minute price!
To make the best use of this site you need to log on to their website and email a travel agent with your destination and dates. Someone will email you within 24hrs with a quoted price. Then, you call them on their toll-free number to confirm your dates. If you like what you hear, you give them your credit card number, and your ticket arrives within a few days. Not as easy as some of those other sites where you can purchase online, but I think a little phone call that can save you hundreds of dollars is definitely worth it!
Their site can give prices from selected departure cities to a variety of destinations, but for the best prices....you need to contact them! They call these fares last minute, but I purchased my ticket to Egypt over a month before I planned to travel!
I highly recommend this site! It's the perfect place to purchase cheap tickets for those of you who like to make last minute travel arrangements, and for those of you who fall in between the last minute deals, and advance purchase prices!
