How to get the nicest condo on the mountain

I don't profess to know where the best ski resorts are. There are a bunch of them out there. What I DO know is how to find the nicest place and stay at them without paying outrageous prices.
Timeshare: it's a scary word when you don't know the details. Many of you may have gone on a timeshare tour with your ears shut just to get the free gift (how's that suitcase treating you, anyway?) but hear this out. My parents have used timeshare for over 15 years and it has worked out wonderfully. They have RCI ( http://www.rci.com/ctg/cgi-bin/RCI ) and have stayed at some of the most beautiful places I've ever seen. This is an excellent way for families who enjoy skiing different resorts (or doing other activities) to enjoy the "high life" of the mountain while saving a few bucks.
The process goes something like this: find a nice condominium company that offers timeshare (RCI is a good one - they have a great selection). Go on the tour and look around. Keep in mind that the quality of the week that you "buy" will compare to the quality of the week that you exchange for. DO NOT spend an incredible amount of money. Tally up how much you spend each year on accommodations for your trips and base your spending on that. Remember to ask how much the yearly charge is and if it is a lifetime ownership that you can pass down to your children (the best way to go).
Once purchased, you "own" a week that can be exchanged for other weeks at other resorts (and a great big book with pictures to help you choose from!). This is where it gets fun. You can go places that you probably would have never considered going before. Plus, offers are made throughout the year for weekend getaways and such. It's great!
So, check it out. Travel - you only live once!
