The most important thing to pack!! by RobinLynn | Dec 28, 2000 My travel experiences the last several years have taught me that the single most important item to pack, especially if you are going on a vacation that will require much walking, is the most comfortable shoes you can find! Invest in your feet and save your back! (Reply to this comment)
by imbali
I recently had ankle surgery and was in physical therapy for 2 months. But I still had pain that radiated all the way up to my hip if I walked too long. While shopping, nearly in tears from the pain, I found a store where the clerk suggested Mephistos. When I stood up in them, the pain dissipated!!! No kidding, it completely realigned my gait in seconds. I purchased 2 pairs - one to wear indoors as slippers and another for outdoors. The difference is remarkable. I told my ortho-surgeon, and he already had them on his recommend list but didn't have any patients that tried them. Now, no more P/T for me! Just very good shoes that are helping me get back on my feet -- without back pain.

I've heard great things... (Reply to this comment)

about these shoes, and I agree that spending extra on our feet is well worth it! Proper foot support/cushioning affects comfort as well as keeps our joints and back happy.
One question: have you worn your Mephistos long enough to comment on the longevity of the soles?

They are always packed. I also have found that ECCO shoes are very comfortable and supportive.

The only other shoe tip (Reply to this comment)
by MsHooterville
Wear the same pair of shoes you wear at home the most often as long as they're good for walking. The easiest I ever had it on my feet was taking two pair of shoes I wear a lot and alternating them. Then when one gives you sore spots, change to the other pair. Then you can get DIFFERENT sore spots, LOL! I'm going to check out the shoes you suggested, thanks!
