Remember a few years back when some marketing genius decided to blow up the clown on a comercial? They probably thought it was cute. They probably thought that it would boost sales. They were wrong. I remember hearing stories about children having full blown panic attacks when their parents started to drive into a Jack in the Box.
People, especially children, are very impressionable. That is to say, what they see and hear leaves a lasting impression on them. Not all children feel comfortable enough with their parents to express their feelings the way the kids who screamed at the moms and dads who tried to take them to the place where they saw the clown's head explode on TV.
Unless I am mistaken, Epinions is available to all web surfers, including children. You do not have to be a certian age to view this site, do you? That being the case, should'nt there be a little self imposed regulation, exercised by Epinion's staff? Parents who do not want their children to be exposed to this kind of stupidity may wish to lock this site from their children's user accounts until after it is removed.
No, this is not the same thing as the old spots in which the lock was shot by a marksman on TV. The use of a firearm is not the point I'm trying to make at all. It is the use of a firearm to express one's anger, or in this case the simple dissaproval of a product line. If Epinions is going to put out negative ads to try to promote the site, fine. I have no problem with that. But this is crossing the line of deciency and is frankly embarassing.
