This review is written as a rebuttal, so to speak, to the reviews branding this ad as distasteful, disgusting, and gross. I read and rated a few different opinions, and felt compelled to comment. But with all that I want to say, I guess I ought to put it in a review of my own.
Okay, it is the opinion of some reviewers that the commercial showed poor taste on the part of epinions.com and the mother who had the gumption to demonstrate her breast pump on national television. (GASP IN HORROR!) On the contrary, I thought the product was demonstrated in a very tasteful manner. At no time did we see any part of a bare breast. So what if we saw the milk. Big deal. What did people expect to see accumulating in the bottle? This is a product that is used for the purpose of feeding a baby. We see baby bottles demonstrated all the time. It's only the stigma that some people project on mothers who choose to breastfeed publicly that makes it controversial.
As for the humor aspect, I think we could all benefit from finding the humor in our everyday lives. The lighthearted approach taken in this ad, in my opinion, only made it more appealing. I thought the cat was funny!
It was a bit noisy, though. The motor in the pump is a little loud (I know, I've used one) and tends to overpower the woman's voice.
On the whole, I think this is a good ad. Now, I'm not at all militant about breastfeeding vs. bottle feeding. That's for another review. But I do think it's high time for the public to lighten up.
