Hello. I am writing this on vbehalf of the hundreds of upset epinioners.
Do you know why they stopped showing people smoking cigarettes on T.V.? Because children and teenagers thought the people smoking looked cool and they wanted to be like them. Let Me Repeat Myself More and more children and teenagers started smoking because they thought that if they could smoke they would look as cool, sophisticated and handsome as the person in the commercial. This is a true fact! Guns Can Look Cool Just Like Cigarettes
Since children do have access to guns but do not have access to shooting ranges (like in the commercial) they will have to shoot whatever they don't like wherever they are! Be it at school or home! This commercial is irresponsible because it makes using guns look cool. Children and Teenagers (and lunatics) will want to immitate it!
We need to be responsible about the use of guns in our society. Guns should never be used in a commercial to solve a problem. Go and read all the editorials about children and violence in the kids and family section and think twice about this commercial.
This commercial is promoting shooting things we don't like or things that frustrate us. Unfortunately, there are lunatics on this planet who can and will shoot whatever and whoever they don't like at the drop of a hat. Shooting things that frustrate us may be seen as funny because we all feel that urge at times. But, unfortunately, there is a new trend of thought that is politically correct - called the "No Humor Zone". The use of guns to solve problems in a violent way is in this "No Humor Zone". Things that used to be funny are not funny anymore. Go and ask the parent of a dead Columbine High Student if they think this commercial is funny! Epinions should never be part of this kind of violent portrayal of solving a problem. Even if they do want to get new members or new hits on this site, promoting violence in my opinion is not worth it!
We should teach our members and potential members that we want to make manufacturers, authors, and producers listen to our views and make changes in their products and services. Nobody ever listens to people with guns sensibly, they only duck and get out of the way! You may think that I am some anti-gun enthusiast. I am not. I own 2 guns and one is a glock. My husband is a police officer! I understand gun rights and believe in them. I also believe in protecting those rights, this commercial is counterproductive to that end. I also understand violence.
We are a community that communicates our opinions about things to help others make informed decisions. Did that come out in this commercial? Not a chance!!!
I do not want a commercial like this to represent Epinions!
