Pros: Good example of safe handgun use, great shock value commercial, foreshadowing of the death of a Beanie Baby.
Cons: Some bad cuts from scene to scene, iMac looks too "light" on the hanger (looks like screen was removed and replaced with a sheet of plastic).

| hamors's Full Review: iMac |
First of all, let me say that I love Macintosh computers and the iMac. Then again, I love all computers. Since I run a Web hosting provider out of my basement, I have quite a collection of Mac OS, Linux, OpenBSD, OpenSTEP and Windows machines. My wife uses an iMac as her Internet and sales terminal and it serves her purpose very well. She uses it from behind our firewall to take orders, browse the Web, ICQ and check email.
But I love this ad!
It shows the raw emotion that manifests itself when a computer really, really messes up. There's a Seagate hard drive that's sitting on my desk at work with multiple .45 ACP and .30 rifle holes in it. Why? Because it crashed and I lost a lot of data. So, how else to celebrate that loss than putting some bullets through it with my Springfield 1911 and my brother in law's hunting rifle.
I see why people are in a huff about this ad. It's raw. It shows emotion. And it shows that gun owners are not crazed lunatics! The ad portrays a young man who is personable, likable, clean cut, intelligent and, gasp, safe. Yes. Safe. He's wearing eyes and ears (vision and hearing protection) and always keeps the muzzle of his pistol facing downrange. He's not in a rage. He's simply stating his opinion with a little physical force. He's at a range and not littering up the outdoors with computer parts. He's shooting from a safe distance. All proper safety procedures.
This will lure people to the site!
Gun enthusiasts will visit the site simply out of principle to support a pro gun (or at least pro gun safety) company. Anti gun fanatics will visit the site to show outrage and blame Epinions for recent school shootings. Apple supporters will visit the site out of outrage. Apple haters will visit the site out of love. Beanie Baby lovers will visit the site to say the ad traumatized their daughters. Beanie Baby haters will visit the site to write reviews depicting them destroying their Beanie Babies.
It's a win-win situation! Then again, I guess I'm just a little bit biased. Check out http://projects.shn.nu/rkba/ to see why...
