I graduated from the "old" Mercy Hospital Nursing School
as a Diploma Registered Nurse (the dinosaurs of the nursing profession)
and practiced nursing for 30 plus years. After I married and had a
family, I went back to school where I obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Allied Health Education.
I am one of the many nurses who finally "burned out" once
nursing no longer resembled what I thought nursing should
be. I have been in many medical areas and held many
different titles. It was my pleasure to spend 3 years teaching nurse aides at a local
vo-tech, in order to prepare them for work in nursing homes and home health. I also worked for 3 years in Home Health Nursing, my last job being the Director Of Nursing.
We raised 2 children, both are married. Both of my "kids" love animals. My son is a "computer consultant" and doing very well. He is married to a sweet young woman who loves cats, dogs, rats, ferrets and anything else furred, finned or feathered. My daughter is a Veterinarian specializing in cats. When she and her husband (who is also a wonderful young man...I really lucked out in the in-law category) married, they had her cats and his. That is a total of 5 and then she takes in "foster kitties" and keeps them until they can find a good home for them. They also have 4 large dogs that needed homes. She works with a group called PAWS that helps homeless animals find medical treatment and loving homes. It's amazing how kind people can be to animals.
Rating Epinions has been something of an enigma to me. I read many epinions and watched how people reviewed and finally decided few people did it the same. It seems to me that the purpose of this site is to provide a place for people to find out how others feel about products or subjects and then make their own decisions. Therefore, I try not to let my feeling about the product influence my rating, rather I try to see if it has enough objective information written in such a manner so as to tell the reader how that writer feels about the project and why. It should be "on topic" and provide more information than "I really like/hate it". The reader wants to know why. At least, that's what I want when I'm looking for advise. So my ratings pretty much fall into the following definitions:
Highly Recommended: This epinion is on topic, the grammar and spelling is correct, a sense of humor is good but certainly not necessary, the pros and cons are given with whys and there are details needed to make a decision. (for example: is the item easy to use, easy to clean, are there safety features? Movies and books, why would I want to enjoy this or not...but don't tell me every detail.)
Recommended: A little off the mark, grammar & spelling could be better or perhaps it just didn't have enough information.
Somewhat Recommend: Your point may be valid, but it is poorly written or, it may be well written but it does not appear to be your work. Another thing that would place it in this category would be that it doesn't really sound like you know what you're talking about and perhaps you have created a nice piece of fiction. I generally will leave a comment on these.
Not Recommend: This would be given due to poor writing skills, foul language and something that obviously is there to get in a 100 word opinion without really saying anything of value.
