About Goatius
I'm a bit obsessed with stats and lists. Have you ever really looked through those Member Center lists of Top Reviews and Top Authors? I've lost hours in there, just plodding around. Fascinating stuff.

So on the recent occassion of my 200th review, I thought I'd crunch some numbers and come up with some interesting facts, as relates to my history with Epinions:

In the first month I was a member, I wrote 71 reviews, most of which I'll admit aren't terribly good. However, review #71 (Ghostbusters) is considerably better than review #1 (The Story of Us).

It took me only thirteen days to reach my 50th review (Hook), and 326 days to get to 100 (2001: A Space Odyssey). So you can see, things slowed down a bit there.

However, from April 2002 through to September 2008 I only posted two Epinions - one was a short play in the Writer's Corner, The Seventh Summit, the other a movie review, The Passion of the Christ. That's a dry spell right there, and is the direct cause that review 200 (2010: The Year We Make Contact) took a full 3,340 days to get to. That's nearly nine and a half years from when I signed up.

My best read review, Caligula, has slightly more reads than my bottom 68 reviews combined.

Because I had such a huge gap between periods of writing on Epinions, I've started referring to reviews as either Modern Era or Golden Age, like I'm writing comic books, apparently. Modern Era reviews only make up 26% of my personal Top 50 read reviews. On the other hand, the quality of the reviews themselves is much, much higher than it used to be, so the Modern Era trumps the Golden Age in that regard.

Beyond that, haven't been up to much. Writing. I spent a lot of time on novels and plays, and more recently blogging quite a number of jokey bits at knowinglyundersold.wordpress.com. Now available, another blog dedicated entirely to a running epic tale of adventure and drinking in Scranton, PA on Parade Day. Paradeday.wordpress.com! Thanks for reading!

And now, here are some of my favorite reviews from my growing collection:

Boston Red Sox Metal License Plate

The Room

Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer

The Best Movies of 2008

Watchmen

Wild Turkey Kentucky Spirit

The Passion of the Christ

Eagle Eye

Teen Wolf

Natural Ice

Ed Wood

And here are some of my best read movie reviews. Why are they better read than my favorite reviews? Hard to say.

Caligula - Totally Ridiculous Roman Porn

The Hound of the Baskervilles - Oh Watson, the Needle

The Maltese Falcon - The Stuff Dreams are Made Of

Casablanca - No One Ever Loved Me That Much

Quick Change - Nude Women! Clowns Welcome! Clowns Welcome!

Taxi Driver - Here is a Man Who Would Not Take it Anymore

Dr. Strangelove - We'll Meet Again, Don't Know Where, Don't Know When

Lolita - Lovely, Lilting, Lyrical

Young Frankenstein - I Was Going to Make Espresso
