I've been away from Epinions for a while, and due to some products I've purchased and used, feel complled to return and share my experiences with them.
As far as the photo goes, I’ve chosen one that shows my better half. He’s the one with the long whiskers. I’ve rolled over into my second half-century and I’ve been working in Human Resources management for over 20 years so I’m used to being exposed to other people’s opinions--all day long. Prior to settling into the field of Human Resources I spent some time as a Veterinary Technician and even groomed horses at the racetrack while I had one of my own in training.
My Thoughts on Epinions
What have I learned in the short time I’ve been a member? Don’t quit my day job and keep buying those lotto tickets! Seriously, the shekels are nice I suppose, but I think I just like having an audience…that roar of the crowd thing.
I don’t get much of a chance to read a lot of reviews but I do make an effort to get to as many as I can. I do all my composing off line and usually just come to cut and paste. So please don’t be offended if I read one or two of your opinions and gave them a HR rating but don’t read and rate all of them. Since reading opinions takes time, I like an opinion that is to the point and not peppered with flowery verbiage. A little humor is great, but I don't have time to read novels online so I prefer opinions that stick to the topic. Whether you like or dislike something, I will only make an effort to continue reading your reviews if you can be objective about your subject matter. I particularly don’t care to read opinions that totally bash a product when, it fact, it may have some good qualities (now matter how few they be).
When it comes to deciding what products on which to write opinions, I prefer to write about something I’ve owned or used on a regular basis and will not rely on a quick store demonstration on which to base a review. I enjoy writing opinions on books and movies and have concentrated on those I think could use and deserve more exposure. I tend to think of them as hidden treasures. There are a lot of quality movies on video shelves that I’ve found many people have never heard of and I consider them worthy of a viewing.
I’m sure after I’ve been with Epinions longer I’ll want to come back and add some things to my profile, then again, I may decide to remove my picture in case any of you feel compelled to hire someone named “Guido” should I not give your opinions the ratings you feel they deserve.
