Wow! It's hard to believe I've been on here so long. It's even harder to believe the last time I updated this page Kassidy was two. Anyway, I guess an update is long overdue.
I currently have a Masters Degree in Community Counseling and work with the drug and alcohol population. I run education and therapy groups for people who have DUI's, I work with parents who are going to lose their children if they don't quit using and I love my job.
In August I will have been married to my husband for ten years. We have two beautiful daughters; Natalie and Kassidy. Kassidy is a bright, energetic six year old these days and Natalie is two. Natalie has a condition called Spina Bifida that requires her to use a wheelchair, braces and other adaptive equipment. She's a smart cookie with a mischevious and completely sweet personality. These girls and my husband are my world.
Then there is music. Music is extremely important to me. I am the person at work who always has my MP3 player listening to music. I currently have a Sansa Fuze 8gb which isn't bad although I wish I had a little more storage. I plan on moving up to a 16gb in the next year. I love all kinds of music but my favorites are R&B and pop. I also enjoy country if it's not the depressing stuff about running over the dog. I enjoy rap as well as long as the MC has something to say and sounds good saying it.
Then there is movies. I'm a bit of a freak when it comes to films. I love horror movies. I'm a fan of pretty much all of them. Good, bad, gory, suspenseful, disturbed. My favorite directors are Dario Argento, Wes Craven and Tobe Hooper.
Other little facts of interest (maybe).
*I love to sing and used Karaoke contests down in Vegas to buy groceries
*I play WoW.
* I was an entertainment writer for a couple of years at the UNLV Rebel Yell
* I recieved a piano scholarship to Casper College. I ended up not being a music major but was a decent piano player.
Evolving
My new rating system is as follows. In order for an album to get five stars it must not have any songs that rank as one or two stars. I will give each track a rating of 1-5 stars and then take the average as the rating of the album. If the album has more than half of the songs rated five stars but no one or two star tracks it automatically gets a full star boost. If there are five are more tracks with a rating of five stars I will add five points to the total amount of points. This rewards the album for consistency. I will subtract points for various different issues which I will notate in the review. For example, if the album has tons of meaningless interludes I might subtract a certain amount of points from the total score. This of course will be a system that will evolve and I plan on going back and changing ratings of previous albums by this new system as well. So if you see changes in previous ratings this will be why. This is part of my effort to make my ratings more consistent and reliable. At the end of every review I will explain how I came up with the rating. Hopefully everyone likes this new system and it will be interesting to see how it changes previous reviews.
