About Pirich
My specialization on Epinions has been in Astronomy. I have a life-long love of the night sky, and so I have a large group of reviews on telescopes. I am providing links here for my article on choosing a telescope and some links for the most satisfactory telescopes I have run across.

Choosing a Telescope
Some things experience points to thinking about

Picking a Telescope

Favorite Scopes
These have stood the test of time gracefully

Celestron C8- they just do a heck of a lot:
CPC 800, NexStar 8 GPS, Celestar 8

Celestron C5- If I could keep only one telescope, this is it:
NexStar 5i, G5 Equatorial

Astronomy Technologies AT66ED- Just a neat little telescope:
AT66ED

Scopes For Starting Out
Lightweight, mobile, great performance for the dollar

Non GoTo- No computer, battery, or complex drive- the money goes into a better telescope:
Orion XT6, Orion XT8, Orion XT10

GoTo- Computer driven to find things. Note, it comes out of the scope in small scale:
Celestron NexStar 80GT

General Bio for Pirich: I am an engineer. I design space flight hardware for a living. And yes, that means I actually am a rocket scientist, so you don't have to e-mail the joke to me. I love the outdoors and especially enjoy seeing a clear nighttime sky from a dark remote location. I enjoy walking and look for excuses to do so whenever I can. I am 35 years old. I am married, and we have a new little daughter. I've been to a few locations in my time. I have lived in California, Colorado, Georgia, Kentucky, Louisiana, Minnesota, North Carolina, and Virginia in the US. Outside the US I have lived in Brazil, Egypt, and Israel. I believe the freedom to decide our beliefs for ourselves is the greatest freedom we enjoy. I will not infringe upon it, and I expect others to do the same.
