I'm only 23, so my biography is rather limited. I have been an Internet junkie since 1994, and it certainly paid off, because now I work for a Wireless Internet company. We host the Wireless Web for Cellular Carriers; as well as develop applications for the Wireless Web. I specialize in User Interface design, and I also do front-end programming.
I live in Orlando, FL, along with my boyfriend, Martin, and our cat, Vivisector (Vivi for short). My boyfriend is also a techno-geek. He's been programming computers since he was 5. His favorite topics of discussion are geology, physics, robotics, the space program, animal behavior (mainly our cat), and other topics along a similar line. He was born in Poland, moved here when he was 5, and is now a citizen of the US. We've been together over 4 years, and will most likely grow old and wrinkly together (hopefully not TOO wrinkly!).
I think that my rather large family, which has only grown over the years, has defined many aspects of my personality. My ENTIRE family is from New York, so that says a lot. My mother's parents are 1st generation Americans, and their parents were from Italy. So, both of them have like 10 siblings!! I don't think I ever learned all their names. Some of my favorite names in my family come from by grandfather's (his name is Egildo) brothers... Italo, Enio, Ezio, Romulus, Remus, and Dundee. My parents named me Alia after my great grandfather Elia. Since my mother's family was Catholic, and my father's family was Jewish, there weren't many names they agreed on. Alia, spelled Aliyah in Hebrew, has many meanings to Jews, so apparently, they both got their way with my name. I really like my name, so it's all good!
I have 3 siblings, Josh, Isaac, and Lynette, and SIX stepsisters. Two, Melissa and Heather, belong to my step-dad, Ed, and 4, Michelle, Joy, Catherine, and Dawn, to my step-mom Jen. I told you my family was large. Needless to say, Christmas shopping is a really draining experience! Poor Marty is an only child! heh.
I come from 3 generations of medical doctors, so it feels good to be doing my own thing. I always thought that I would be a doctor, and the medical field IS really fascinating and will always hold a special place in my heart, BUT computers are where my passion lies. I started designing web sites in 1996, and have been doing it ever since.
Some of my favorite things in life are: freshly zambonied ice rinks, driving in South Florida in my mustang convertible, getting the Wireless Internet on my Palm, a good deli sandwich, reading a good book, and many more other things that I can't think of right now!
Hockey Teams: The New York Islanders, TB Lightning
Movies: Real Genius, Star Wars, The Princess Bride
Bands: The Might Be Giants, Toadies, Collective Soul, Orbital, Moby, Republica, and a LOT more.
Computer Games: Star Control 2, The Might & Magic Series, Unreal Tournament, F-Zero racing, Tetris, Bustamove
Places: hockey games, arcades, movie theaters, anywhere with a high-speed LAN and a T1+ connection to the Internet, my bed!
Anyway, you probably now know more about me than you ever cared to find out. If you made it this far... I'm truly sorry (: Did I mention I ramble...
