I am a retired radio broadcaster / dj ... turned professional musician and promoter ....
Music is my first love. Americana / Alt~country is my most favorite. It is here that IMHO the truest and purest soul of American music is to be found, away from the glitz and glamour of Nashville or Hollywood. Long time forgotten heroes of country and bluegrass, no longer considered commercially viable, still record wonderful and at times, brilliant work. New comers, grounded in the roots come along and produce groundbreaking releases.
I don't write reviews on music I haven't heard or really don't like. I guess I was brought up that if you can't say something nice about someone, you shouldn't say anything at all. There are lot's of bands and artists I don't care for, mostly just because of taste. As a result, you'll not ever see me review music I can't relate to. If I think a release by an artist I do know isn't that good, then I'll be honest enough to say so. I hope my reviews encourage you to check out music you've never even heard of before. I know I do that on occasion too. Peace ya'll.
